Becoming A MICROSOCIETY Certified Site
How do we measure up?
View List of MicroSociety Star Sites
The MICROSOCIETY Star System tracks the progress of our day and after school sites and provides a recognizable and reliable standard within the educational community. The Star System – which will lead to the MICROSOCIETY gold standard of accreditation in 2010- can also be an effective fundraising tool. Individuals and companies in particular want to invest where there is a clear demonstration of success and educational effectiveness.
The “Star” process benefits the entire MICROSOCIETY family as we encourage one another to maintain high levels of quality and strive for continuous improvement. The Star System marks the launch of a three-year Quality Assurance Initiative, in part underwritten by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The key deliverable of the initiative is the design, development, and roll out of an assessment strategy with accompanying instruments for use by MICROSOCIETY National Training Directors as well as by site administrators for tracking program progress. When complete, all MICROSOCIETY sites will be able to see more clearly their program’s strengths and weaknesses and areas in need of fine tuning. The detailed self-analysis along with trainer technical assistance from our certified trainers will uncover strategies for advancement in the MICROSOCIETY Star and Accreditation Systems.
Sites must register in order to participate, and those who qualify will be certified at one of the three levels. Sites that receive three or more stars will receive special recognition on our website. Schools are required to reapply every year to maintain or raise their star level. The Star Survey is sent to all sites in March.
