First Ever Alumni Association Reunion A Huge  Success

MICROSOCIETY Inc. sponsored the C.G. McDonough City Magnet School Alumni Reunion in Lowell, MA in November 2008. This special homecoming honored two generations of alumni from the first MicroSociety school in the nation, where the program ran for an astonishing 24 years until the high school took over the facility. The school’s legacy lives on. It was an emotional evening for more than 100 former students (alums from the 1981 to 2005 graduating classes) teachers, administrators, family members and friends. "You worked in the Micro Bank (or ran a business or newspaper)? So did I!" launched many animated conversations. These young people spoke with  passion, pride and personal ownership about their Micro experience from 20 years before.   

The event also officially kicked-off the MICROSOCIETY Inc. National Alumni Association, the first of many Micro alumni gatherings around the country.

The goal of the Alumni Association is to host a series of events that bring together MicroSociety alumni from around the country. These events will help form a supportive network as alumni finish school and find their place in the real world.
