MicroSociety® AfterSchool Program
Offering so much more than an extension of the school day, MICROSOCIETY’s innovative, research based after school program provides a safe haven exciting enough to capture the imagination of your elementary and middle grade students while supporting school-linked learning. Its subject matter and content-rich experiences contribute to children’s academic achievement as well as their social, emotional and physical development. Like its whole school counterpart, the program transforms after-school into a bustling marketplace which children and youth manage. Taking leadership roles anchors their lives, motivates them to connect what they learn in their classroom to life.

Academics and Enrichment
There is no need for add-ons! The MicroSociety After School program provides a complete after school experience. Snack time, tutoring, discipline and physical activity are all included. Budding novelists update their blogs at the student-operated café, Aerobics ‘R Us pumps up kids of all ages and behavior infractions are reviewed in a court room of their peers. Clubs, crafts, and games transform into student-run businesses. In these profit and not-for-profit centers of commerce, students hold themselves accountable for learning the workplace skills they need to succeed on-the-job. Student leaders conduct tutoring sessions to help younger ones with homework at MicroUniversity. Student council becomes the MicroSociety government. Non-profit organizations establish cultural and service learning opportunities. The MicroSociety After School Program provides an excellent strategy for building and sustaining meaningful community partner and parent engagement.

MicroSociety AfterSchool Program Goals
Program goals include providing training to build the capacity of afterschool providers and others in order to help children and youth achieve school success and lifelong learning skills. Our materials and training promote the integration of school-based content and curriculum.
